Peter Streit Guitars

I’ve been a player, performer, songwriter, recording musician for 45 years and in that time played a lot of guitars. My lutherie journey started when I realized that my quest for the perfect guitar was not going to be fulfilled in buying this or that production guitar, even from the big-name manufacturers. I had a lot of really good guitars that I loved to play, but after a while, I always got to the point of “Wouldn’t it be cool if this guitar could do this…..” So…rather than buy the next guitar I decided to build a shop, get some good tools, learn the craft of lutherie, and then really learn what it takes to build a great instrument. After a few years of learning and experimentation, I began to hone in on what makes a guitar special to me. After 45 years of playing lots of music and all manner of guitars, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted in a special instrument.

Peter Streit Guitars guitars are finely crafted acoustic instruments using only premium tonewoods, carefully selected and environmentally seasoned. I build and finish my guitars to exacting tolerances with a high level of craftsmanship to achieve a tone, look and feel that is unique to the instrument and is designed to improve with age and care providing a lifetime of playing enjoyment for the musician.

My goal is to build an instrument that is a vehicle of expression for the musician, in service of not only the player, but the music as well, a conduit in the intricate alchemy of transforming thoughts, ideas, and notes into the universal language that is music.
