George Leach graduated from Colorado State University in 1973 in Electrical Engineering and started working for Motorola immediately after. In 1979, he joined Intel as a senior design engineer and remained there until 2006, retiring as an engineering manager and project leader. He started working on guitars on weekends in 1988 after a local repair shop did a poor repair on his guitar. He figured he could do better, so he started doing repairs for friends and eventually built his first guitar a year later. He sold his second guitar to a local musician and found himself in business. He has taken several classes from notable luthiers, including Tom Ribbecke, Bill Cumpiano, Dick Boak, Frank Finocchio, Dale Ungar, Grit Laskin, and Charles Fox.

In 2006 after his retirement from Intel, he started working full time on guitars and has also been teaching guitar making.
