The Clearwater Guitar was built to be donated to the sloop Clearwater and was auctioned off at their gala fundraising event in April 2022. The sloop Clearwater was built in the late sixties with the help of Pete Seeger. It has been used for over fifty years to raise awareness about cleaning up the Hudson River. The concept for this guitar was to build it using woods from the Hudson River watershed. In addition, some parts were created from wood from the original Clearwater that was replaced the last time the boat was repaired. The top is Adirondack Red Spruce and the back and sides are curly White Oak. The neck is Cherry, Maple, and Walnut. The fingerboard and bridge are Walnut and the peg head veneer and end graft are crafted from wood reclaimed from the Clearwater. The binding is Sycamore.
The guitar is a D size with a 25.34" scale length.
Case included.
