The back and sides of this beautiful ukulele are a grafted Walnut - English and Black. English Walnuts are commonly grown in the western United States, where they are typically grafted onto the roots of the native California black Walnut which is hardy in USDA zones 7 through 9. This practice imbues the trees with disease resistance and makes them better adapted to native soils. The top is Carpathian Spruce, the neck is figured Maple, and everything else is Brazilian Rosewood. The headstock inlay is crafted from reconstituted stone (the yellow/orange part of the flower) and mother-of-pearl. I also gave the branch (that the MOP vine wraps around) silver paint edge lines to highlight it as the natural dark line in the Brazilian needed more distinction to create depth. The black Rodgers tuners with black mother-of-pearl buttons are the icing on the cake adding beauty and functionality.
